About
Chris Harvan, Principal at Skipstones Media, is celebrating his 10th year of involvement in New Media and Web Development. The ups, downs, previous employers, changes in technology, and general chaos have been one seriously wild ride.
The move to strike out officially as a business venture was made in 2007, even if the decision to do so was much earlier. This venture coincided with an industry phenomenon. Talented developers are forming loosely associated, collaborative teams to provide elegant solutions at costs that are challenging the very existence of big agencies.
These ad hoc groups allow project leads to match up the right skills for projects. Ajax Frank and Django Bill bring in XHTML Sarah after getting a site layout from Designer Tom. And so on...
Skipstones Media considers it a delight to plan and lead projects of a small to mid level size. We focus on clean designs and producing immaculate XHTML and CSS. Ajax and other javascript fun are also squeezed in where appropriate. PHP and Ruby on Rails are our preferred architectures to hang our work on, but we are open to others. Although we build our projects to be served into any operating system's contemporary browser, we very much prefer projects hosted on UNIX/Linux platforms.
